The New Orleans branch of the Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve was once the site of the Battle of New Orleans, a clash between American forces under Andrew Jackson and a British force intent on controlling the Mississippi River. Though there are many branches of the National Historic Parks, the New Orleans branch is located far south of the French Quarter, along the Woods Place Canal. For more information on the battle and what the park has to offer, visitors can stop by the Visitor's Center, near the French Market in the French Quarter.
Visitor's Center open daily, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
