The Sacred Heart Academy was founded as a boarding school for boys and girls by the Ursuline nuns, who immigrated to this area from Germany, in 1877. The academy is located in the Garden District, south of Memorial Medical Center. Today, the school is broken up into five separate branches, each still situated on the same compound, but now under the umbrella organization of the Ursuline Campus Schools.
