Known for its French Creole cuisine, Brennan's is a New Orleans favorite of locals and tourists alike. Don't miss the sinfully delicious Bananas Foster.

My boyfriend who lived in the French Quarters for many years in the 90s raved about Brennan's and in December 08 we finally made a visit to New Orleans. We were excited to revisit many of his old favorites and they were all excellent EXCEPT Brennan's. We were seated relatively quickly, and that is where the positive experience ended. Our waiter, Alex, was too lazy to stop by every table to go over the specials, so he screamed them out...hitting 4 tables at a time. After we placed our orders, food arrived painfully slow. My seafood gumbo was warm, in a temperature perfect for bacterias to multiply and grow. We were ignored most of the meal, and when I asked Alex to check on our orders, he became defensive and said it was not his fault. I told him that I knew it was not his fault, but please check on our orders. Food was OK, I had a much better meal down the street at the Nepolean House and that cost a whole lot less. I heard that since the hurricane, good help has been hard to find, hence these yahoos who under normal circumstances should not be in a customer service role end up interacting with clients. I would stay away from Brennan's until service improves. The prices are high and shame on them for having such poor service!

My wife and i just return from a trip through the South. We spent five days in New Orleans. The last night my wife wanted to go to Brennan's. I will Never Go There Again. We were seated in an alley type room the was the runway between the kitchen and a room with a large party and the wait staff traffic made it seem as if we were on the interstate. This dispite the fact that there was an empty room adjacent to out "street". Bad management. The food was at best good but surely not worth the money. The service was terrible. Waited fifteen minutes for the first waiter to come by. There were twelve tables in this area and about ten waiter and bus staff. Then after a rather, at best, meal, when I gave our waitress two One hundred dollar travelers check for the 135.00 bill see asked if i wanted any change. There are at least ten restuarants in the Cleveland-Akron area which are head and shoulders above Brennan"s in every way. Basically I found Brennan"s to be nothing but a tourist trap.

Went for dinner and just not great service. Everyone acted as if they really did not want to be at work. Then to the so called prix fixe menu... What's the point if just about everything on there costs an extra $10 to $15

My two-star review is based on the service in relation to the price and the reputation of Brennan's. The food was good (hence the two stars), but the service and ambience were definitely lacking! We had Sunday breakfast here, making reservations a week ahead. We were seated upstairs in a narrow hallway which was awkward, but were next to a window overlooking the couryard which was ok. We were seated without menus. I had no coffee cup or saucer at my place setting. We sat there unattended without water, coffee or menus for over 5 minutes. Finally a young man approached and asked what we'd like to drink. We asked for coffee and a cup for me. He returned several minutes later with my cup. After he poured the coffee, I noticed the lipstick on my cup. We were astonished! When he saw me wipe it with my finger (it was fresh), he asked if I wanted him to bring me another cup. Did he really have to ask?? Is this the stellar service that Brennan's prides itself on? He returned a few minutes later with a clean cup, and poured the coffee. It was lukewarm at best. Not hot at all. Needless to say, we had to speak up again, and we are not complainers. But when eating at a place that prides itself on a sterling reputation, and paying $100 for breakfast, everything should be nearly perfect! The disappointments continued. We were seated across from an open door to the next room where they were setting up for some kind of event. Throughout our entire breakfast, our view was of two construction workers in dirty clothes wiring up a sound system, crawling on the floor (butt-cracks visible!) laying wire, and a filthy ladder laying on the carpet three feet from us. Elegant dining experience? I think not. We were still anticipating our bananas foster show, though. However, another disappointment. Our waiter flamed up the dessert at another table for 4, out of our sight, then just brought ours over to us. We had expected each table to get the big show! Very unsatisfying for the price.

I was a bit surprised reading the reviews. I have always had a wonderful meal and a fantastic waiter. I was there last in April. My husband and I went for an anniversary and we ate turtle soup, which I could make a meal out of just that!!... well... maybe some Bannana's Foster too ; )
