The bar at Pat O'Brien's is a great place to stop on a hot afternoon to cool off with a huge, incredibly refreshing Hurricane, play the jukebox, and relax for a while. It's really crowded and loud at night, so we liked it better during the day. Across from the bar is a gigantic cocktail lounge with a bar and lots of tables and chairs, but it fills to overflowing at night. Two piano players are featured at night (not sure if it's just on weekends), but they don't live up to the atmosphere of either New Orleans or this great lounge. They play songs the audience can sing along to, but not very good ones. We actually heard them do Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me"--yikes! It would be so much better if they had jazz performers. Still, the Hurricanes were the best we tasted, and it's a fun place, so go!

The bar has an interesting crowd, friendly and loud. I've been here several times and always enjoyed it. Overall still one of the best. First class people working there, new, clean.wide variety of people to meet.

i enjoy this bar for its chill scene. it does get crowded but not sweaty like any other dance club. although it does have plenty of different rooms to hang out, i love the outdoor patio because it is large and perfect to meet people. of course, when it is raining, it is not as fun, but if you are resourceful (or go to one of the rooms), you can still enjoy a rainy day at pat o'briens. i am not much of a hurricane drinker but people seem to like those made by pat o'brien bartenders.

Great place if you want the Bourbon st experience off of Bourbon. I have had to take clients there twice in the last 6 months & beg anyone coming to the city to venture out of the quarter & experience some local joints!

If you like your drinks with a touch of citrus to it, then try the hurricane. I try to stay away because its really popular with the Bourbon tourists but if you're in a group then its fine to hang here for a while and them move on to many more holes in the wall.
